Fresh Air for the Soul: Spring Cleaning Your Energy

It’s March, and suddenly everyone is scrubbing something. Closets get emptied, windows get washed, floors get mopped until they shine. And honestly? I love that feeling. A clean home in a shifting season does something to the spirit.
But here’s the part we often forget:
Your energy needs spring cleaning too.
All winter long, your system has been absorbing things - other people’s moods, heavy conversations, stressful environments, and the quiet wear-and-tear of simply getting through the dark days. By the time March rolls in, you might be carrying weight you can’t quite name… you just know you feel a little “off,” tired, or foggy.
Spring cleaning isn’t only about your home. It’s also about you.
Why Energy Clearing Matters
Clearing your energy isn’t about fixing yourself or staying “positive” all the time. It’s about making space.
Space to feel more like yourself. Space to breathe deeper. Space to start the season without dragging winter behind you.
New habits - more movement, better food, more rest, more joy - need room to grow. And sometimes the simplest way to make that room is to gently release what isn’t yours to carry anymore.
Think of it as opening the windows of your inner world and letting the stale air move on.
Simple Ways to Clear Your Energy This Spring
Start with the easiest magic: step outside. Trees, water, wind, sunlight - nature recalibrates us. Even ten quiet minutes with your feet on the ground can shift your whole nervous system.
Breathe on purpose. A few slow breaths with your attention on your body is quiet spellwork. Hand on your heart, soften your shoulders, and notice the inhale and exhale. That’s enough.
Then, let your home join in. Cleanse your space in a way that feels good to you. Smoke cleansing with sage, rosemary, cedar, or incense is lovely - so is opening a window, ringing a bell, sweeping your floors with intention or even dancing around the room to your favorite song. It doesn’t have to look a certain way to “count.” Do what fits your home and your beliefs.
If you like working with crystals, you can give yourself a little “reset” there, too. Selenite over your entryway door is a favorite because it has "car wash" energy. People come into your house and it cleanses their energy even before they step all the way inside! Even if you’re not a crystal person, the simple act of placing something with intention can be a powerful cue for your mind and your energy.
One important thing: clearing is only half the spell.
Call In What You Want
If you remove stagnant energy, try not to leave a blank space behind. After you cleanse, invite in what you actually want.
Say something simple out loud as you move through your rooms:
"This home is filled with peace."
"Only love lives here."
"May this space feel welcoming and protected."
Name what you’re welcoming. Fill the room on purpose. Let your words be the welcome mat for the season ahead.
A Few March “Energy Renewal” Ideas
You don’t need a full ritual to shift things. Small choices add up.
Finish one lingering winter thing - a book, a project, a task you’ve been avoiding. Completion creates closure.
Take one long walk on the first “almost warm” day. Let your body remember it’s allowed to move and feel good.
Plan something that grows. A garden, a pot of porch herbs, a new routine, a friendship you want to nurture.
Have your coffee or tea outside, even for five minutes. Let the air touch your face. Listen to the birds complain about spring taking too long.
Bring spring into your home: flowers on the table, fresh sheets, a candle that smells like lilac or rain - little sensory cues that tell your system, We’re waking up now.
You Deserve This Care Too
We’re so good at cleaning our homes - scrubbing, organizing, making everything shine.
But your inner landscape deserves attention too.
So while you’re opening windows and shaking out winter dust, remember: you can do the same for your energy. Clear what’s heavy. Call in what’s true. Make space for new growth.
Spring cleaning isn’t just for your home. It’s for you, too.
